Housekeeper
Location: Navy Gateway Inns & Suites, Smokey Point, NS Everett
Pay Grade: NA 3566 02
Employee renders cleaning expertise and provides adequate and timely housekeeping service to military and civilian patrons to ensure comfort during their stay with NGIS. Employee privileges include access to base facilities such as gyms, recreation centers, restaurants and discount tickets to sporting and entertainment events.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES: Performs daily housekeeping duties which includes dusting, polishing furniture, vacuuming and/or sweeping, cleaning/sanitizing bathrooms and kitchen area, trash removal, making beds and removing/changing bedding, restocking of amenities, bed and bath linens and other supplies, checking condition of room assets and reporting problems to supervisor and responding to guest requests. Ensures security and privacy of all guests is maintained at all times. Demonstrates a welcoming manner and effective communication skills. Professionally interact with guests. Provides assistance in handling customer complaints. Performs deep cleaning as required to include defrosting refrigerator, cleaning windows, replacing/cleaning of drapes, carpet shampooing or cleaning. Performs other related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: Must have general knowledge of cleaning procedures, cleaning equipment, commonly used chemicals (including MSDS) and basic safety is required. Must be able to communicate clearly and effectively both verbally and in writing with management, staff and guests. Subject to possibility of workdays on weekends and holidays, as well as, rotating shifts. Complete physical examination at a military medical facility may be required for fitness for duty requirement. May be required to possess valid driver’s license as travel to other facilities within normal scope of duties may be required. This position is subject to a favorable national background check. Incumbent is expected to obtain certification ion housekeeping outlined in Lodging Career Path Guide.
Conditions of Employment: Physical exertion is involved in standing and walking for long periods, some bending, stooping and lifting is required. Position requires a constant vigilance to ensure maximum security for youth, patrons and employees in and around the facility. Work is performed indoors and outdoors with varied work schedules and occasional weekend and evening hours in accordance with the requirements of the program at hand.
