Food & Beverage Manager
Location: NAS Whidbey Island Food & Beverage
Pay Grade: NF-1101-4

Summary of Duties: Duties include the overall administration, maintenance and daily operations of a multi-facility program including, but not limited to restaurants, snack bar, bars and a resort property. Incumbent is responsible for the execution of the business plan. Requires effective training and administration of employees and the constant review and improvement of processes with the primary goal of achieving financial success of the installation activities while ensuring the highest quality of customer service. Frequently interfaces with customers in facility to ensure highest quality of service possible. Attend all advisory groups, meetings and ensure widest dissemination on upcoming events is provided. Ensures effective programming and menu planning. Responsible for annual marketing plan of all assigned business activities. Ensures accountability of funds and equipment and that targeted budget goals are being achieved. Investigates and reports significant shortages and discrepancies. Verifies receipts are properly deposited and that required financial reports are prepared and maintained. Responsible for reviewing all purchase requests, issuing and receiving reports and invoices for accuracy. Conducts management reviews of the on-site programs and activities including contractor performance. Provides guidance to subordinate personnel in analyzing and evaluating the financial success of activities. Responsible for repairs, maintenance, cleanliness and sanitation of facilities. Supervisory responsibilities include establishing objectives and planning, assigning and setting priorities for accomplishment of workload. Oversees employee development, establishes performance standards and works to improve quality of work. Encourages a positive work culture and strives to effectively resolve grievances and complaints. Actively supports the command’s equal employment opportunity program.
Qualifications: Demonstrates past experience and knowledge of management procedures and general business practices related to operational management of programs and effective utilization of facilities and equipment to be assigned (restaurant, bar, catering, lodging, etc.). A four-year degree with a business, hospitality or similar degree from an accredited college or university is highly desirable. Demonstrates skill in developing directives, instructions, and procedures regarding the administration of activities and effective utilization of facility resources. The work requires independent judgment and initiative and ability to apply management principles, concepts and methodology to a variety of complex assignments. Must present a polished demeanor in a high visibility position.
Conditions of Employment: Successful completion of National Agency Check (NACI) background check with written inquiries. Must be able to obtain a Food Handler’s Certificate. Must be able to use simple kitchen equipment and use common utensils. Must be able to operate a cash register. Must be able to follow food recipes and combine ingredients for pizza, salads, and other menu items. Work involves light to moderate physical effort such as frequently lifting or moving objects weighing up to 30 pounds, constantly standing and walking, and occasionally lifting up to 45 pounds.
