Central Cashier

Location: NAS Whidbey Island Administrative Branch

Pay Grade: NF-0530-02

Brief Description of Duties: Incumbent provides various cashiering duties and responsibilities for Naval Air Station Whidbey Island. Receives and verifies daily cash receipts and assures an accurate bank deposit. Maintains change fund machines and is responsible for ensuring the accuracy of their replenishment. Travel to Fleet & Family Readiness facilities to collect daily receipts and to banking facility for deposit of receipts. Input data into Systems and Accounting Procedures (SAP) accounting system of daily deposits. Strong cash handling and recording of figures will be required for the accurate day to day functions of this position.  Performs other related clerical duties as assigned.

Qualification Requirements: Incumbent must be a minimum of 18 years of age and possess a high school diploma or equivalent. Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles, procedures, rules, and regulations in safeguarding cash and other assets in order to conduct and examine the validity of the cash transactions.  Incumbent must be able to operate machines such as calculator, typewriter, cash register, and computer. Must have a minimum of 6 months previous cashier experience. Strong cash handing and recording of figures.

Conditions of Employment: Successful completion of National Agency Background (NACI) check. Incumbent must have valid driver’s license. Position is primarily sedentary and requires long periods of sitting when verifying cash and counting funds. Requires ability to occasionally lift up to 50 pounds unassisted, bending and kneeling for transport of funds. Position is a flexible with varying hours and schedule.
