Bowling Center Manager
Location: Naval Base Kitsap's Olympic Lanes Bowling Center
Pay Grade: NF-0188-03
This position provides quality customer service to all eligible patrons. Employee privileges include access to base facilities such as gyms, recreation centers, restaurants, and discount tickets to sporting and entertainment events.
Brief Description of Duties: Incumbent is responsible for the safe, economic and efficient operation of the bowling facility which includes 16 lanes, equipment maintenance and repair, and facilities which may include snack bar. Implements higher-level directives, formulates procedures and programs to ensure high standards of recreational and promotional efforts. Promotes, schedules, and manages the conduct of tournaments, matches, and other special events and programs necessary resources for the purchases of supplies, equipment and resale merchandise. Interacts with representatives of military commands, vendors, local community officials and managers of other departments to develop quality programs and events. Actively promotes and markets the bowling programs through specials, cross promotions, incentive programs, etc. to ensure maximum participation in programs. Prepares financial plans, budgets, inventories, cost control, and related records and reports. Manages new property resources and provides advice on renovations and improvements. Maintains and enforces security for funds, merchandise, supplies and equipment. Either directly or indirectly through subordinate staff, manages activity employees. Trains, schedules work, appraises performance, counsels assigned personnel, and recommends personnel actions. Responsible for the proper maintenance and security of assigned areas and spaces ensuring a clean and respectable facility. Ensures facilities and staff comply with applicable liquor laws and take appropriate action to identify and prevent alcohol abuse. Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualification Requirements: A minimum of three year’s experience that demonstrates progressively responsible administrative, professional, technical work involving knowledge and application of bowling, bowling equipment and facilities, and recreational activities. Experience in planning budget requirements, managing supplies, equipment and facilities. Experience in the use of a computer software packages. Ability to learn timekeeping and accounting programs. Knowledge of NAF policies and procedures preferred. Ability to supervise. Knowledge of principles of personnel and position management, including recruitment, selection, hiring, training and development, and general provisions for the needs of human resources in an organization. Must demonstrate ability to deal effectively with subordinates, supervisory and management officials and patrons. Ability to communicate both orally and in writing.
Conditions of Employment: Successful completion of National Agency Background (NACI) Check required. Must be C.A.R.E (Controlling Alcohol Risks Effectively) trained, hold an Emergency First Responder (EFR) OR CPR First Aid and AED certification, and hold a current Food Handler certification upon being placed in the position OR be able to obtain these trainings/certifications within 90 days of being placed in the position. This position is required to do considerable standing, bending, stooping, walking, pushing, climbing and lifting of objects weighing up to 40 pounds unassisted.
