Facility Manager
Location: NAS Whidbey Island Gallery Golf Course
Pay Grade: NF-1101-03
This position is located in the Fleet and Family readiness (F&FR) Division at Navy Region Northwest. Responsible for management, control and accomplishment of assigned functions associated with the facility. Employee privileges include access to base facilities such as gyms, recreation centers, restaurants, and discount tickets to sporting and entertainment events.
Summary of Duties: Incumbent is responsible for the operation, maintenance, and financial oversight of the Gallery Golf Pro Shop, and Club House with food service and beverage cart operations. Responsible for providing qualified instruction to golfers, technical advice pertaining to rental equipment and retail items. Ensures an aggressive recreational golf program is available for patrons. Schedules and conducts tournaments and special events. Responsible for golf cart rental and maintenance program, and operation of Pro Shop. Trains, schedules work, appraises performance, counsels assigned personnel, and recommends personnel actions. Ensures compliance with fire, safety, security, sanitation, hazardous material handling, and other environmental issues. Manages new property resources and provides advice on renovations and improvements. Maintains and enforces security for funds, merchandise, supplies, and equipment to preclude or minimize the potential for fraud, waste, and abuse. Maintains records as necessary to meet mission. May be required to perform duties of subordinate positions. Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications: Knowledge of administrative practices related to management planning, budgeting, scheduling and coordinating programs for efficient operation and use of facility and equipment. Knowledge of management principles, concepts, methodology to a variety of activities and services of a small to medium size program.. Two years of relevant experience preferred. Must possess professional knowledge of golf operations and maintenance to include three years experience. Active "Class A " member of the Professional Golfer's Association of America is preferred. Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing. Knowledge of pertinent safety, occupational health, and environmental regulations, to include matters relating to chemicals, spray, and other agents. Knowledge of NAF policies and procedures preferred. Ability to work outdoors under varying weather conditions.
Conditions of Employment: Successful completion of National Agency (NACI) background check required. Valid state driver’s license required for travel between facilities.
