Food Service/Kitchen Supervisor
Location: Naval Base Kitsap Bremerton & Puget Sound Naval Shipyard & IMF

INTRODUCTION: This position is located within Employee Food Services, Puget Sound Naval Shipyard Bremerton, Washington. The purpose of this position is to plan, direct, supervise and coordinate the preparation and cooking of a wide variety of food in bulk or individual servings using numerous cooking methods and techniques.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Supervises and coordinates activities of cooks engaged in preparing and cooking foodstuffs to ensure economical and profitable food service. Takes responsibility of making decisions as problems, if any, arise and establishes high standards for the overall operation of the kitchen’s organizational assignments. Performs supervisory functions typical of a first level supervisor. Prepares work assignments, distributes workload among appropriate kitchen personnel. Evaluates work performances, trains and provides on-the-job training to subordinates. Initiates personnel and disciplinary actions.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIREMENTS: Graduation from a culinary institute OR similar extensive experience that indicates the ability to perform job duties and responsibilities required by this position. Must be able to effectively supervise and train personnel with minimal amount of direction from superiors. Knowledge and ability to inspect facilities for cleanliness, sanitation and personal hygiene standards, and physical condition of furnishings and equipment. Knowledge and ability to prepare pertinent records and reports.
WORKING CONDITIONS: Light to moderate physical effort is required. Frequently lifts and/or moves objects weighing up to 40 pounds and occasionally up to 60 pounds. required to stand, stoop, twist, bend and walk constantly.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT: Successful completion of National Agency (NACI) background check required. Physical exertion is involved in standing and walking for long periods, some bending, stooping and lifting is required. Work is normally performed inside with adequate light, heat and fresh air.
